Enjoy a smooth, scenic float on a calm stretch of the Salmon River that flows past the town of Salmon, Idaho. These half-day float trips are designed for relaxation, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing, with no rapids on this section of the river. It’s an easygoing experience ideal for families, couples, and guests of all ages.
Morning and evening floats offer beautiful light, peaceful water, and excellent opportunities to photograph wildlife and scenery along the riverbanks. Drinks and a homemade treat are included, and guests may choose between a paddle raft or an oar raft for their float.

To stay comfortable on your scenic float, we recommend bringing:
- Water shoes or sandals you don’t mind getting wet
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen for skin and lips
- Bug spray
Reservations & Cancellation Policy
Reservations are encouraged to ensure availability for your preferred date and activity. A 30% deposit is required to reserve all trips.
Deposits are non-refundable in the event of cancellation, but the full amount may be credited toward future dates.
Land-based activity prices are subject to 6% Idaho sales tax.
Family Discount
Children 12 and under receive 10% off per child on scenic float trips.

Gratuities
While gratuities are not mandatory, it is customary to offer a tip to your guide and cook in recognition of exceptional service.

I want to share my fantastic experience with Rawhide Outfitters. From the beginning Cathy was easy to deal with and very accommodating. She worked with me to make our day of floating so enjoyable. Great service from the time of booking, through the changes we made to schedule, Cathy’s personal visit to our hotel and of course the float trip itself. Our teenage girls were not at all convinced at the concept of spending three days/two nights on a float trip but they, like my wife and I, felt it was the highlight of our trip.
